Erik
Sommer
Erik began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA in 2007 and has built his coaching approach through years of training, competition and professional fight experience.
He started under Roger Denton and Fabio Araujo and later competed professionally in MMA, including appearances with Cage Titans, Reality Fighting and Warrior Nation.
In 2016, Erik spent time training in Brazil under Theodoro Canal and Mestre Julio Cesar of GFTeam. During that period, he won gold at Copa Sul as a brown belt. He received his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt in August 2018 under Derek Mangi.
After moving to Ocala in 2021, Erik continued coaching and competing at a high level. He founded Cornerstone Jiu-Jitsu in 2026 to create an academy centered on quality instruction, hard training and a welcoming environment for students with different goals.
